Trenchtown Sports: Dolphins failed to protect Tua

You don’t have to be an expert on concussions to see that Tua clearly had a ‘dazed and confused’ moment and even had to be held up by his lineman. He briefly left the game before returning to help secure the Dolphins win in week 3. Head injuries have jumped to the top of the priority list to ensure players’ safety and prevent long-term side effects. The Dolphins have failed miserably. At the end of the day, it’s the coach’s decision to play Tua after he’s cleared by ‘professionals’. Mike McDaniels should have stepped in to protect his young QB.

Concussions are very tricky, meaning you can’t rush the recovery process. The Dolphins never should have put him back in the game against the Bills, especially with the front 7 of the Bills defense. If you replay the Thursday Night Game you’ll see his head didn’t hit the ground that hard. As I said, Concussions can be tricky and unpredictable, especially if you are recovering from one.
